Public Relations Account Executive
Merritt Group is a nationally recognized strategic communications agency that provides marketing, public relations and digital strategy services to various organizations. The Public Relations Account Executive will focus on client relations, content development, and media campaigns while proactively contributing to the agency's culture and results.

Responsibilities
You proactively respond to client asks and are able to effectively move things forward within the team
You’re starting to establish relationships with clients, and they’re starting to go to you directly to ask for help on specific projects
You’re able to effectively and efficiently lead parts of client meetings
You actively contribute to planning meetings and brainstorms
You meet or exceed all deadlines — from client deadlines to getting your timesheets and monthly reports done on time
You’re able to take ownership of parts of account work (such as speaking and awards programs or key projects) — you’re proactive in your communication and don’t have to be asked where things stand
You have a solid understanding of your clients’ industries and their competitive landscapes, and you are proactive in raising or discussing key trends and news our clients should know about
You’re vocal in internal meetings and internal communications, sharing ideas across your client channels as well as agency channels
You have a persistent focus on results, and you push yourself to exceed expectations
You consistently look for opportunities to self-educate and seek out new responsibilities across client teams and the agency in general
You’re able to identify problems and work proactively with your manager to find solutions
You produce compelling, typo-free first drafts of materials, including press releases and blog posts, background materials, speaking abstracts, contributed articles, case studies, and more - and also make creative suggestions or revisions to existing content
You have a solid understanding of the media landscape for each of your clients
You have started to establish relationships with at least a few key reporters
You’re starting to manage media campaigns from start to finish — ideation, drafting pitches, developing materials, determining best targets, pitching, and landing coverage
You’re starting to bring new ideas to the table, such as new pitch ideas or reporters
You’re starting to manage speaking and award programs with less oversight from your manager; you have a broad understanding of the events and awards industry for each of your clients
You create compelling, typo-free first drafts of speaking and award submissions and prep materials
You’re able to connect the dots between clients for media opportunities you find, and you share intel on media moves or reporter meetings with the broader agency
You have an understanding of relevant social media channels for our clients, and you develop compelling content that you populate within social media channels
You’re starting to think beyond just media and look for ways to integrate marketing methodologies with clients
You’re able to independently manage smaller-scale social media or influencer campaigns
You’re learning to connect the dots between the work we do and how that work ladders back to our client’s goals, OKRs, or KPIs
You treat Merritt Group/Cutline as a client, identifying new opportunities and areas of growth, and engage, amplify, and contribute to our brand
You assist with the development of business development prospect lists
You provide input into strategic documents like high-level background research and participate in brainstorming new ideas for business development
You may be invited to meet with prospective clients
