Responsibilities
Own end-to-end payroll processing for 200+ active employees using QuickBooks Payroll, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment tax requirements
Manage workers’ compensation administration and related reporting
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees, leadership, and department heads
Respond to payroll-related information requests with professionalism, discretion, and strong attention to confidentiality
Demonstrate sound judgment and awareness when handling sensitive employee and company information
Identify payroll process gaps or risks and proactively recommend and implement improvements or system enhancements
Support payroll system optimization, upgrades, and added functionality as the organization grows
Create and deliver clear employee communications and training related to payroll processes, changes, or systems
Partner cross-functionally with HR and Finance to ensure smooth and accurate payroll operations
Qualification
Required
5+ years of hands-on payroll experience in a growing or complex organization
Strong experience with QuickBooks Payroll (required)
Solid understanding of payroll compliance, employment taxes, and workers' compensation
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain payroll topics clearly and professionally
High emotional intelligence and strong customer-service mindset
Proven ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of outcomes
Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and trustworthiness with sensitive information
Process-oriented with experience improving or enhancing payroll systems and workflows
