Sterile Processing Coordinator
Enterprise Solutions Inc. is a nationally recognized healthcare system in Western North Carolina seeking an experienced Director of Sterile Processing. This role involves providing strategic and operational leadership for the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring compliance and efficiency in sterile processing services across various care settings.
Responsibilities
Lead all aspects of Sterile Processing Department operations, including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, storage, distribution, and case cart workflows
Ensure continuous compliance with TJC, CMS, AAMI, AORN, OSHA, and HSPA standards
Recruit, develop, and retain qualified staff; ensure appropriate staffing levels and competency mix
Provide leadership to 7 Team Leads and a department of approximately 80 FTEs
Collaborate closely with Perioperative Services, OR leadership, Infection Prevention, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership
Maintain and enhance quality control programs, performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory readiness
Oversee staff orientation, education, ongoing competency validation, and certification support
Manage departmental operating and capital budgets; recommend resources and equipment as needed
Support multiple service lines including OR, CVOR, Endoscopy, L&D, and inpatient/outpatient ambulatory clinics
Represent the organization in hospital and community initiatives as required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Nursing, or completion of a Two-Year Surgical Technology Program
CRCST or CSPDT (HSPA / IAHCSMM required)
Minimum 5 years of Sterile Processing experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing
Demonstrated leadership in large acute-care hospital environments
Strong knowledge of Operating room instrumentation and equipment
Strong knowledge of Aseptic technique and infection control practices
Strong knowledge of Regulatory and accreditation standards
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, high-volume surgical environments
Proficiency with computer systems and SPD workflow tools (SPM experience preferred)
