Vaco by Highspring is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support a high-volume, multi-state payroll environment. The role involves managing complex payroll processes, ensuring accurate payroll processing, and partnering closely with HR and Finance.

Responsibilities

Process a weekly payroll cycle for approximately 1,500 hourly and salaried employees
Utilize ADP and UKG payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
Ensure accurate processing, reconciliation, and recordkeeping of multi-state payroll
Create and deliver ad-hoc wage and management reports, including workers' compensation reporting
Administer and validate payroll deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and other employee contributions
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and distribution
Research and resolve escalated payroll issues and discrepancies in a timely manner
Analyze payroll data and investigate variances prior to payroll processing to ensure accuracy
Support HR and Finance with reporting, analysis, and special payroll-related projects
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field
3-5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a large, multi-state payroll environment
Extensive knowledge of payroll operations, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes
Hands-on experience with ADP and UKG payroll systems (required)
Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements
Proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion and accuracy
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred

Experience supporting payroll for a high-volume employee population
Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
