Engineering Manager
LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our client's organization in the Rolling Meadows, IL area. The role involves overseeing engineering activities, leading and mentoring team members, and managing project plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Oversee electrical, controls, and mechanical engineering activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals
Serve as the technical expert for electrical/controls engineering, including embedded hardware, PCB design, firmware, and automation systems
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering team members to support strong performance and professional growth
Manage project plans, resources, and technical deliverables across multiple initiatives
Drive the design and development of electromechanical and automation products based on roadmap requirements
Translate market and customer needs into technical specifications and engineered solutions
Ensure product reliability, compliance, quality, and cost-effectiveness
Coordinate internal and external resources to deliver projects on schedule and within budget
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, productivity, and product performance
Conduct root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and promote best-practice sharing
Provide advanced technical support and guidance to internal teams and customers
Collaborate cross‑functionally with product management, operations, and other departments
Report regularly to senior leadership regarding engineering activities, risks, and progress
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
10+ years of experience in electrical, controls, or electromechanical engineering
Proven leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams
Hands‑on expertise with embedded hardware, PCB layout, automation/controls systems, and small drives/motors
Strong background in electromechanical system design, troubleshooting, and product development
Proficiency with CAD and electrical modeling/simulation tools
Strong communication, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Ability to evaluate risks, make sound decisions, and drive technical execution effectively
Preferred
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience in automation, machinery, or vertical‑transportation‑related industries
