Data Visualization Intern
The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing America’s understanding of the world and contributing ideas to U.S. foreign policy. They are seeking a Data Visualization Intern to create compelling visual representations of complex data sets, assist with web development, and develop engaging visual content for various platforms.

Responsibilities
Create compelling visual representations of complex data sets to aid in the understanding of key foreign policy issues
Collect and analyze data using tools like Excel or R/Python
Design data visualizations using tools like Adobe Illustrator, Figma, and Datawrapper
Assist with web development to create interactive graphics
Develop engaging visual content for CFR’s social media channels, video, and email
Qualification
Required
Undergraduate or graduate student who has completed coursework or has experience in visual communication design, data visualization, data journalism, or a related field
All applicants should have completed the equivalent of four semesters of college coursework (not including AP classes in high school) by the time they begin an internship
Experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
Strong attention to detail and resourcefulness
Please include a portfolio or links to relevant projects as part of your application
Preferred
Experience with Datawrapper; Adobe Creative Suit, including Illustrator; Python/R, Figma; and JavaScript (D3.js, ObservableHQ) is preferred but not required
Previous experience working in a newsroom is preferred
