Responsibilities

Performs a variety of office, administrative, and general support assignments; gathers, assembles, organizes, and tabulates data and information; serves as an office receptionist greeting office visitors and answering the telephone, providing information and making referrals to other staff; receives, sorts, and distributes mail; maintains and updates records and information retrieval systems; records and logs invoices, claims, and other documents; types/word processes and proofreads a variety of documents and material; may work on special reports, projects, and publications; may assist with maintaining family support and/or public assistance records; may update and maintain computerized records and generate reports; may use spreadsheets and other special computer software; operates office equipment

Required

Any combination of training or experience that would provide the knowledge and skills to successfully perform the listed duties is qualifying
One year of previous administrative, office, and general support work experience
Participating in the County of Siskiyou Drug and Alcohol Testing program as mandated by the Department of Transportation
Submitting to random drug and alcohol tests once employed by the County
Policies and procedures of the department and unit where assigned
Good public relations techniques
Maintenance of files and information retrieval systems
Computers and software used in office and administrative support work
Modern office methods and procedures
Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
Basic mathematics
Perform a variety of administrative, office, and general support work with minimal guidance and supervision
Read, interpret, and apply policies, procedures, and regulations
Follow oral and written directions
Type or use word processing software at an acceptable speed to meet production requirements, 45 corrected wpm or more
Gather and organize data and information
Maintain and update records and reports
Operate a computer and use department software in the performance of assigned work
Operate and use office equipment
Deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff when explaining the functions and policies of the work area where assigned
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

Benefits

12 paid holidays (96 hours) per year, plus 3 floating holidays
Two (2) weeks per year during the first five (5) years of service; Three (3) weeks a year - five (5)- ten (10) years of service; Four (4) weeks a year - Ten (10) plus years of service.
Sick leave shall accrue from the date of initial employment at the rate of 3.7 hours per pay period (which is equivalent to 96 hours per years) for regular full-time employees with no maximum accrual.
Siskiyou County contracts with CalPERS for medical insurance.
Effective 1/01/2024, the County will contribute 90% of the Region 1 CalPERS Gold health plan.
Effective 1/01/2025, the County will contribute 85% of the Region 1 CalPERS Gold health plan.
Effective 1/01/2024 the County contributes 90% of the dental premium.
Effective 1/01/2025 the County contributes 85% of the dental premium.
Effective November 2022 the County provides vision insurance for employees and their dependents.
The County will maintain life insurance for $50,000.
The County is in the Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) coordinated with Social Security.
Employees hired prior to November 2, 2012, pay the required seven percent (7.0%) member contribution, on a pre-tax basis.
Employees hired after November 1, 2012, who are not classified as a new member pay the required seven percent (7.0%) member contribution, on a pre-tax basis.
Employees hired after December 31, 2012, who are classified as a new member will pay one half of the total normal cost as determined annually by CalPERS on a pre-tax basis.
Deferred Compensation plans available through specified companies.
IRC Section 125 plan available for pre-tax payroll deductions for contributions towards un-reimbursed medical expenses and dependent care.
