Responsibilities

Perform document imaging functions including prepping, scanning, indexing, and quality validation
Analyze medical records for completion and resolve provider deficiencies per policy
Support missing documentation and provider queries as assigned
Complete birth/death certificate documentation in accordance with state law (as applicable)
Collect, reconcile, and route medical charts
Perform data integrity tasks (chart corrections, duplicate medical records, etc.)
Meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks for assigned functions
Maintain productivity metrics for monitoring purposes
Assist internal and external agencies with patient record information requests
Support phone inquiries, continuity of care requests, record retrieval, and filing
Perform additional HIM tasks as assigned by leadership

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Proficiency with computers, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office
Understanding of HIPAA privacy/security standards
Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently
Strong organizational and communication skills (written & verbal)

Preferred

Two (2) years of experience in a hospital HIM department
RHIT or RHIA certification
Experience with birth certificate or vital statistics processes
