Mechanical Design Engineer
RemX is a medium sized Houston based global provider of high performance drilling equipment. They are seeking an experienced Iron Roughneck Design Engineer to sustain and improve existing product lines and support engineering analyses for drilling equipment.

Responsibilities
Sustain and support existing iron roughneck product lines, maintaining reliability, manufacturability, and field performance
Perform mechanical redesigns, updates, and improvements to legacy systems and components
Conduct engineering analyses including structural, fatigue, hydraulic, and safety evaluations
Collaborate with manufacturing, field service, and quality teams to solve product issues and implement corrective actions
Produce accurate engineering deliverables including 3D models, detailed drawings, BOMs, ECNs, and technical documentation
Support operations, supply chain, and customer service teams with engineering expertise related to installed equipment issues
Participate in testing, inspections, and teardown reviews for evaluating design enhancements and performance
Ensure alignment with Our Client’s safety and performance standards
Qualification
Required
Minimum 10 years' engineering experience in Oil & Gas
Minimum 5 years' direct, hands-on experience designing iron roughneck systems
Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
Strong mechanical engineering foundation in drilling equipment, heavy machinery, hydraulics, and rotating systems
Demonstrated success sustaining and improving existing product lines
Ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues and support fielded equipment throughout its lifecycle
Strong communication and cross functional technical collaboration skills
Preferred
Design experience across multiple oilfield product categories (e.g., mud pumps, handling tools, valves, top drives, RCD/MPD systems)
Familiarity with safety enhancing, performance driven equipment used in extreme drilling environments
Working knowledge of API, ASME, NACE, and related industry standards
Hands-on testing, commissioning, or troubleshooting experience
