Responsibilities
Instruct students on wastewater treatment operations, safety, maintenance, and regulatory compliance
Develop curriculum and instructor resources
Provide students with a written and accessible course syllabus that follows the Course Syllabus Guidelines and facilitates a clear understanding between student and instructor of the content, goals, requirements, expectations, evaluation methods and schedule of work
Maintain and submit daily attendance rosters and grade sheets to the Continuing Education department by department deadlines
Evaluate student performance to ensure readiness for the Class D Operator exam
Assess progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes in accordance with college policies and procedures
Review, evaluate, and recommend appropriate use of student learning materials to support instructional goals
Qualification
Required
Current TCEQ Class D Wastewater Operator Certification (or higher)
At least three (3) years of professional experience in wastewater operations
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong understanding of wastewater treatment principles, safety standards, and environmental regulations
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Detail oriented and organized with effective communication and professionalism skills
Possess workplace critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability to plan course instruction based upon approved syllabus/outline provided to ensure course content and objectives are met
Ability to utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate various learning styles of students
Ability to utilize instructional technologies, including computers, internet resources, and other appropriate media in instruction
Preferred
Post-secondary education in environmental science or related field
Previous experience teaching/conducting a course/program in a post-secondary setting
Experience developing lesson plans and curriculum for instruction
Prior experience with CANVAS
