In this role, you will design and execute comprehensive test strategies, develop scalable automation frameworks, and mentor other engineers while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Partner with product management, design, and engineering teams to understand business requirements and identify risks and quality impacts
Develop, execute, and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts that accurately validate application functionality
Analyze test results, identify defects, and document findings with clarity and precision following team standards
Build, enhance, and support scalable automation frameworks and test libraries using Java, Groovy, or Kotlin
Conduct regular code reviews, ensuring adherence to object‑oriented design best practices and maintainable automation patterns
Become a subject-matter expert in assigned feature areas and help define testing standards and quality assurance measures
Communicate testing progress, results, and quality metrics to stakeholders
Establish best practices for test data and test environment management, and coach junior SDETs/QAs
Apply deep knowledge of web technologies, REST APIs, web services, and device interactions to design reliable test suites
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing using tools such as Jenkins or Azure
Identify opportunities to increase test coverage, reliability, and overall product quality through creative and proactive initiatives
Demonstrate alignment with Hyatt’s core values and contribute to a culture of quality and accountability
Perform additional responsibilities as needed
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience as an SDET supporting major application releases or complex system integrations
Experience mentoring junior team members and collaborating across engineering teams
Strong ability to interpret business requirements and translate them into effective test strategies and scripts
Expertise in defect documentation with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with version control tools such as Git or Subversion
Strong programming skills in Java; familiarity with XML, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
Hands-on experience testing REST and SOAP APIs using tools such as SoapUI or Postman
Experience in cross-browser and cross-platform web and mobile testing using SauceLabs or similar tools
Deep expertise in Java and/or Groovy test automation frameworks, including Selenium or Appium
Ability to analyze logs and troubleshoot issues using tools like Splunk
Experience working with automated testing tools, reporting systems, and ad-hoc query utilities
Proficiency in creating and maintaining test data and test scripts
Strong understanding of software testing best practices and methodologies
Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
Preferred
Comprehensive understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies
Experience writing automated unit tests using JUnit or TestNG
