Business Development Specialist-Americas
Edlong Flavor Solutions is seeking a Business Development Specialist to drive revenue and sales opportunities within the Northwest US Sales Region. The role involves converting marketing qualified leads into sales qualified leads, managing customer relationships, and collaborating across departments to meet growth objectives.
Responsibilities
Research and generate interest in Edlong’s capabilities by providing best in class support and service while leveraging the company’s expertise to assess customer needs and requirements
Provide effective online capabilities presentations, educating leads on Edlong’s value, expertise, and various solutions
Translate customer requirements to Edlong’s marketing, applications, and technical team to best deliver solutions and exceed customer expectations
Collaborate with Edlong’s Technical Specialists, R&D, and Operations teams to identify the best flavor samples or marketing demos for leads based upon their needs, coordinating technical meetings as appropriate to drive success with customers
Manage assigned accounts to maintain top-of-mind awareness and ensure the Edlong’s relationships and revenue opportunities grow as the customer grows
Expand utilization of Edlong flavors across multiple applications and product categories by developing and nurturing enterprising business with both existing and new customers
Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate Business Development Managers as needed to support further development and close opportunities
Maintain and organize file documentation related to assigned work to ensure easy access for self- and team
Meet quarterly and annual targets for pipeline development and conversions to new opportunities
Contribute to team efforts, collaboration, and results by following Edlong’s guidelines, supporting departmental objectives, and aligning with the Corporate Mission, Vision, and Strategic goals
Understand all major business processes within Edlong and work with all levels of the organization
Maintain and enhance professional and technical knowledge base of Edlong personnel by sponsoring or attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks to stay up to date on current trends
Engage in and contribute to Edlong’s marketing campaigns, as requested (LinkedIn, webinars, blog posts, etc.) and execute other duties, as assigned
Qualification
Required
Applicants must have a bachelor's degree with an additional 3-5 years of experience within the food industry, preferably in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, or R&D
Fluency in multiple languages is a plus
Ability to read, write, and comprehend written, electronic, and spoken instructions, memos, and correspondence, and to communicate professionally in English both verbally by phone and electronically
Ability to actively listen to customer needs and respond with appropriate product proposals to meet demands
Ability to deliver impactful presentations in person and via video-conference to customers, clients, or other employees
Ability to comply with procedures in completing written documentation and compile data into reports and summaries from sales or calls
Ability to perform, compute mathematical operations with a calculator, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to perform, compute mathematical operations, and apply concepts such as money, weight, volume, and distance to create and interpret graphs
Ability to work independently to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to develop positive customer relationships and respond to inquiries or complaints from customers in a proactive manner
Ability to formulate breakthrough solutions to customers unmet needs
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form, deal with several abstract and concrete variables
Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
Working knowledge of corporate productivity and online meeting/web presentation tools
Working knowledge of CRM tools and internal business software (i.e., Salesforce, ZoomInfo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator)
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit
The employee is regularly required to operate a keyboard, calculator and telephone
The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds of product or samples
This position will function in a hybrid modality, with on-site work conducted twice a week at Edlong's US Headquarters in Elk Grove Village, and remote work completed from a home office
This position frequently requires up to 50% of travel within sales territories both by air and automobile
Typical workday attendance will require standard business hours with few unscheduled absences
