Compliance & Operations Director
Permanent Placements LLC is seeking a Compliance & Operations Director to lead and optimize their compliance and operational infrastructure in the US. This senior leadership role involves managing risk and compliance, overseeing financial operations, and enhancing partner experience as the firm expands its presence in the United States.
Responsibilities
Manage annual insurance renewals including professional liability, cyber, workers’ compensation, general liability, and related coverage
Maintain systems and controls to protect the business from reputational, cybersecurity, and professional risk
Coordinate with global leadership to ensure consistent risk management standards while adapting to US requirements
Partner with US finance leadership on budgeting, billing cadence, remittances, and tax compliance, including K-1s, 1099s, and LLP filings
Lead the rollout of the Elite 3E finance system across the US, including migration, testing, and training
Establish and maintain strong controls over accounts payable, cost pass-throughs, and accounts receivable cleanup
Coordinate office leases, insurance renewals, and third-party financial relationships
Oversee compliance automation and risk management processes for client and matter onboarding
Establish and maintain compliant operating procedures across key US jurisdictions
Lead policy refresh cycles including engagement letters, service contracts, employee handbooks, and operational guidebooks
Coordinate with IT to support the rollout of AI and innovation initiatives and drive adoption among Partners
Oversee the buildout and maintenance of internal collaboration platforms in alignment with global IT teams
Launch and manage a vetted technology marketplace for approved vendor solutions
Transition outsourced IT support to a consistent, high-quality in-house model
Design and deliver partner onboarding, engagement initiatives, and firmwide events
Ensure partner services and communications reinforce firm values and culture
Serve as a visible cultural ambassador, modeling collaboration, accountability, and trust
Report to the US Chief of Staff and collaborate closely with global compliance and operations leadership
Deliver clear, data-driven reporting on operational performance, compliance, finance, and partner experience
Act as a strategic thought partner in US growth and expansion initiatives
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor required
Active New York bar admission in good standing
10+ years of relevant experience, including senior-level operational leadership and compliance responsibility in regulated environments
Demonstrated experience owning and running day-to-day business operations within a partner-driven professional services or law firm environment
Proven ability to scale and professionalize an existing organization rather than build programs in isolation
Strong people leadership skills including management, delegation, coaching, and conflict resolution
Strategic thinker with a bias toward execution
High level of systems, financial, and operational fluency
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
Preferred
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership
Comfortable operating in growth-stage, non-traditional law firm environments
Credible, decisive, and commercially minded
Able to influence partners without formal hierarchy
Experience in scale-up or high-growth professional services organizations
