Director, Ambulatory Quality and Safety

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Public Health is part of the University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health), which provides comprehensive care, education, and research. The Director of Ambulatory Quality and Safety is responsible for leading initiatives to enhance nursing quality and regulatory compliance, ensuring the highest clinical quality through various quality initiatives and performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative leadership along with consultation to all Ambulator Services operations and outcomes with respect to the following:
Leads, manages, and promotes a culture of patient safety and implementation of high reliability within ambulatory
Works cross functionally with other members of leadership to ensure the organizational and department goals are achieved through collaboration and teamwork
Promotes and oversees performance improvement activities to improve operations that support achieving quality benchmarks
Provide coordination of quality initiatives and regulatory compliance
Provide direct or indirect leadership of nurses, medical assistants, technicians, professionals
Manages and communicates quality dashboard to reinforce compliance and facilitate interdisciplinary communication
Develop, interpret, and direct the implementation of departmental policies and procedures, and apply recognized standards of nursing care and practice
Oversee the quality and data analytics of Ambulatory Services to ensure meeting of metrics and reporting data
Serve as an interdepartmental liaison to Nursing Informatics, that engage in data sharing, joint reporting, or other joint data-related items with Ambulatory care
Establish, implement, and evaluate quality of care
Plan and develop patient safety innovation and practice improvement
Integrate shared leadership and foster collaboration across multi-disciplinary disciplines to arrive at decisions affecting all Ambulatory Services sites of care
Monitor and evaluate operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation, and regulatory standards
Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hires, trains, develops, and manages staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

Required

Illinois Registered Nurse License Required
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Required
Master's Degree Required
A minimum of five (5) years clinical nursing experience with progressive responsibility is required
A minimum of three (3) years in quality, patient safety and quality improvement experience
A minimum of three (3) years in ambulatory care nursing experience is required
Strong communication, customer service and decision–making skills, and project management are required
Knowledge of budgetary processes and financial principles; knowledge of labor laws, standards of care, and regulatory standards required
