Healthcare Data Scientist III

Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care is seeking a Healthcare Data Scientist III to provide statistical support for quality improvement projects and data analysis. The role involves leading complex evaluation projects, developing analysis plans, and ensuring compliance with established protocols.

Responsibilities

Assume leadership role over complex evaluation and analytical projects, overseeing deliverables and collaborating staff
Demonstrate knowledge and experience with all functions related to Data Scientist II
Demonstrate knowledge of advanced statistical and mathematical concepts and theories necessary for development of analytic and evaluation plans
Develop and write detailed analysis plans to meet project goals and objectives, adhering to timelines and specifications outlined in contract
Demonstrate mastery and appropriate use of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures related to program evaluation and advanced analytical concepts
Conduct or oversee the download/export of data from large data sets/databases and generation of SAS code to edit data for accuracy and completeness
Work with department staff and management to develop project timelines in consideration of departmental resources and obligations
Monitor timely progress and quality of project deliverables and lead other staff in making necessary adjustments
Conduct and oversee manipulation and analysis of data using SAS statistical package and/or geospatial software, transfer of data into formats conducive to appropriate analyses
Ensure appropriate interpretation, summary, and documentation of results from statistical analyses produced by other staff
Produce graphs, charts, and other visual representations of data, including dashboards; may oversee quality of related work from other staff
Oversee and assist other staff with the preparation of summary reports for presentation to internal and external clients
Ensure projects follow AFMC and/or certified survey protocol in terms of abstract design, data collection, statistical analysis, and contractual requirements
Ensure appropriate project methodologies are written and/or updated as needed to accomplish project goals and objectives
Communicate and collaborate effectively with other AFMC departments to develop, implement, and complete complex evaluation plans
Write technical sections of proposals to secure future contracts
Research equipment and other technical concepts that could benefit future departmental growth or add value to existing contracts; present findings to management
Stay abreast of and consult with department management on relevant public health issues and legislation
Oversee data entry, data verification, verification of results and database maintenance as required or directed
Lead production of complex, comprehensive reports, adhering to format, content, and style guidelines, considering usability, and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and quality
May mentor and/or supervise other staff members
Conduct workshops, seminars and staff training as needed
Follow AFMC, state and federal protocols regarding data confidentiality/security and HIPAA compliance
Assist department management as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
Advanced SAS certification or equivalent certification
Experience in statistical analysis including writing SAS programs, data manipulation, model estimation and model evaluation
Seven (7) years' experience in a combination of the following: SAS, REDCap, HEDIS, ArcGIS, or Administrative Claims
Seven (7) years' experience leading projects from conception to completion
Reliable, high-speed wireless internet service (Wi-Fi)
Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel, ability to remain calm under stress and ability to travel
Must be able to lift and transport 25 pounds
Must be capable of performing the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations
Intermediate skill level with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
Type 40 wpm
Advanced skill level with SAS
