Coastal Fisheries Supervisor

The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is dedicated to conserving and sustaining the state’s fish and wildlife resources. The Coastal Fisheries Supervisor will oversee program administration, manage regional budgets, and coordinate federal assistance grants while supervising staff in the Coastal region.

Responsibilities

Responsible for program administration; supervision; regional budget administration; and federal assistance grant coordination in the Coastal region
Developing and coordinating the fisheries management program in the Coastal Region, including preparing a regional budget, tracking expenditures, preparing federal assistance work plans, project narratives, performance reports, and submitting annual fishing regulations proposals and fish stocking requests
Meeting job performance review requirements for staff, reviewing regional activity reports and expenditures, and serves as a liaison between the Division office and regional personnel
Administratively responsible for 8 employees, including coordinators, district fisheries biologists, and assistant district fisheries biologists

Required

Bachelor's degree in wildlife or fisheries management, fisheries science, zoology, or a biological science, or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution
Five years of related experience
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license is required within 90 days of hire
Knowledge of principles and practices of fisheries science, conservation biology, and sampling techniques
Knowledge of NCWRC processes and policies
Skills to evaluate and supervise field studies, operations and staff
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others (such as administrators, biologists, wildlife/fisheries groups, and government officials)
Skills to manage program budgets and grants
