Human Resources Generalist

LHH is a mission-driven nonprofit based in Baltimore, MD, seeking a temporary HR Generalist for a 3-month assignment. The role involves managing day-to-day HR responsibilities, supporting talent acquisition, and enhancing employee engagement activities within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

Manage the HR team inbox and respond to routine inquiries
Support employee engagement activities, including weekly announcements, events, and service awards
Prepare offboarding documentation and assist with staff onboarding tasks
Maintain compliance-related records and prepare for audits (licenses, continuing education credits, other HR requirements)
Assist with collecting and managing staff data for various projects (e.g., updated licensure, auto insurance)
Review and disposition applications
Conduct pre-offer checks (degree/license verifications, references, candidate assessments)
Schedule and facilitate interviews, coordinating with hiring managers and HR staff
Support team members in collecting and organizing information for recruitment and compliance needs
Assist with special projects and all-staff planning, including coordinating speakers and continuing education sessions
Support HR and recruiting leaders with prioritization and follow-up on time-sensitive tasks
Provide ad hoc support as needed

Required

Proven experience as an HR Generalist with compliance, employee engagement, and TA support experience
Strong proficiency with Excel, including managing large datasets, VLOOKUPs, and combining data from multiple systems
Highly detail-oriented with experience in audit-ready environments (government-funded or regulated nonprofits preferred)
Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information
Exceptional organizational and communication skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple stakeholders
Comfortable working in a hybrid environment; generally onsite Thursdays in Baltimore HQ, with additional days as needed for events or audits
Go-getter attitude with the ability to jump in and support a diverse team
