Responsibilities

The position entails working as the Underground collection discipline lead for BESS projects for a full scope Engineer of Record (EOR) design across all project phases
Typical design milestones consists of 30%-60%-90%-and Issued for Construction (IFC) phases followed by a record drawing submittal upon completion of construction
Typical deliverables include creating physical layouts, one-line diagrams, equipment details, grounding, Bills of Materials, and determining cable sizes
The position will be responsible of attending weekly project calls for status updates from the client while guiding a small team to assist on the design, calculations, and system studies
The position will also provide a formal QAQC review of each deliverable stage to the team members prior to the submittals. The final deliverable to the client will be a signed and sealed by a registered professional engineer including the drawings and system studies for the project
Serve as the technical lead on projects, coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and clients to ensure technical excellence and project success
Perform electrical studies such as cable ampacity, energy loss, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and grounding analysis
Prepare technical specifications for electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, and batteries
Provide engineering support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, including field inspections and troubleshooting
Conduct technical reviews and enforce quality control to maintain high standards in design and implementation
Provide technical guidance during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure the design intent is achieved in the field
Research new technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance and efficiency
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NFPA, NESC)
Participate in client meetings, present technical information clearly, and support proposal development with technical input

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering required. ABET-accredited program or equivalent required
PE or P. Eng. license required
Experience leading projects and teams
Strong knowledge of wind energy systems and battery energy storage systems and technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and industry standards is required
Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Experience with engineering software such as ETAP, Easypower, PSCAD, CYME, AutoCAD, or similar
Ability to perform AC & DC studies using electrical modelling software. Proficiency with electrical modeling software (e.g., ETAP, Easypower, CYME, CDEGS, or similar)
The position requires the ability to effectively multitask and manage numerous projects/tasks simultaneously, frequently within an aggressive and compressed schedule
Ability to maintain project schedule and achieve target due dates
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, clients, and external agencies
Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a High-paced environment while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude
Up to 15% travel required
If working remote must have reliable high speed internet capabilities
Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States
Demonstrates openness to innovation by embracing and applying evolving technology and AI tools to enhance workflows, solve problems, and drive continuous improvement

Preferred

15+ years of experience preferred in renewable energy, power systems, or a related industry
Knowledge of Autocad Drafting and or REVIT drafting preferred
Valid driver's license preferred
