Responsibilities

Oversee the end-to-end strategy, development, and quality assurance of AP Reading publications—including Chief Reader Reports, AP Central scoring materials, and instructional content for AP educators—to ensure alignment with AP C&A leadership vision and programmatic goals
Direct the annual planning and execution of AP post-administration publication templates, schedules, and deliverables, partnering with AP Publications, AP Web, Psychometrics, and external vendors to ensure timely, accessible, and standards-compliant outputs
Drive the strategic transformation of AP Reading publication delivery, evolving content into eLearning and digital formats in alignment with the AP Program’s long-term digital content strategy
Architect and manage scoring guideline templates for AP Reading, AP Central, and AP Classroom, ensuring all resources meet accessibility and publication standards in collaboration with key internal stakeholders
Lead the coordination and execution of spring scoring guideline reviews across all subjects and exam forms, ensuring materials are fully vetted for the AP Reading and archived in accordance with annual administration protocols
Partner with the Publications team and external vendors to optimize tools, processes, and timelines for the annual export and integration of free-response scoring assets
Ensure AP assessment team compliance with IACET CEU accreditation standards by managing reporting and documentation processes for the AP Reading event
Champion innovation by leading pilot projects and strategic initiatives that advance AP Curriculum & Assessment goals, as assigned by the Executive Director of Reading and Scoring
Strategize and implement enterprise-wide scheduling and performance tracking systems to monitor the full lifecycle of AP scoring asset development and post-administration publication workflows
Oversee the configuration, validation, and quality assurance of annual scoring systems and applications, leading comprehensive checks and resolution of defects across internal and vendor platforms
Evaluate cross-subject free-response performance data to ensure alignment with AP test specifications and course frameworks, supporting continuous improvement in assessment validity
Engineer advanced scoring Smartsheets to function as central planning workbooks for the AP Reading, including schedule transitions and system integrations with external vendor tools and data sources
Lead the management of the annual AP C&A Reading risk and escalation log, producing a comprehensive post-cycle report with strategic recommendations to inform future planning and program alignment
Facilitate annual retrospective data collection and analysis with assessment content teams, delivering key performance metrics and actionable improvement plans aligned to AP program priorities and leadership expectations
Quantify and communicate the effectiveness of AP Reading preparation and training efforts through data-driven impact reporting, while supporting ad hoc analytics to inform strategic decision-making
Lead on-site execution and operational support for AP C&A facilitated AP Reading events (Sessions I & II), including pre-reading, extended, and late scoring periods, ensuring seamless delivery and adherence to program goals
Mitigate operational risks by serving as the primary liaison for assessment content teams and AP C&A leadership, proactively communicating progress, escalating issues, and resolving challenges in real time
Represent AP C&A Assessment leadership as the principal on-site contact for vendor coordination and issue resolution throughout the AP Reading experience

Required

7–10 years of experience in product, program, editorial, and/or project management, preferably within educational assessment or related sectors
Bachelor's degree in a content area aligned with an AP subject, education, or business
Deep expertise in the AP Program, assessment design principles, and scoring practices, including free-response items, rubric and scoring guideline development, and task model frameworks
Exceptional attention to detail
Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a proven ability to lead high-stakes, cross-functional initiatives under tight deadlines
Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholder groups
Proficient in designing, managing, and interpreting dashboards and performance visualizations to support strategic planning and reporting
Technically skilled in project management and collaboration platforms, including Jira, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Power BI, and retrospective tools
High level of technical fluency, with the ability to rapidly learn new technologies and a strong interest in leveraging automation and enterprise AI for operational efficiency
Willing and able to travel 6–8 times per year, including 3–4 consecutive weeks during May–June to support annual AP Reading events
A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work
Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and comfort with learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively
