Manual Lathe Machinist - NIGHT SHIFT
Phoenix Technology Services USA Inc. is a progressive and innovative Directional Drilling Company. They are seeking a Manual Lathe Machinist who will apply basic machining skills to ensure that machine parts meet production, safety, and quality targets.

Responsibilities
Review procedures, work orders, blueprints, set-up sheets and follow verbal work instructions to arrange task layout with minimal steps
Operate Manual Lathe functions, and perform programming, or program editing at machine controls if needed
Select the correct machine and tooling to do the job and gather the required tooling and fixtures or place an order with tool room if necessary
Set up machine as required using prescribed detail and operating procedures
Calculate speeds, feeds, depths of cuts and tapers for machining
Identify the type of material being used and performs hardness testing
Correct or modify tooling call-outs, offsets, speeds and feeds to allow for variations in the material
Perform diversified machining operations and finish complex parts that include exact placement of features, tapers, and tolerances of less than .005, consistently meeting or exceeding manufacturing, safety, and quality targets
Use measuring devices to check all part dimensions (Gagemaker), perform and evaluate all Level I Non-Destructive Testing evaluations on finished parts, and complete all Inspection documentation promptly and accurately
Report non-conformance to the Quality Control Manager
Use material handling equipment to move parts and components to and from the work area (overhead crane, forklift, etc.)
Practice good housekeeping in assigned areas and properly dispose of waste according to safety and environmental policies
Promptly report any operational problems or safety issues with machinery, tools, or equipment to the Machine Shop Lead and submit a maintenance requisition
Assist other departments with various projects when time permits
Perform all duties so as to meet the responsibilities listed in the health and safety handbook
Perform duties according to the Company’s quality system procedures and work instructions
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or G.E.D
A minimum of 6 years of machining experience
At least 4 years in a similar environment and/or 4 years of in-house experience
Ability to run all mills, lathes, and manual machines to complete a part
Ability to work well independently or under minimum supervision
Ability to interpret complicated drawings with multiple views and machining surfaces
Proficient with gauges and measuring instruments
Understanding and practice of geometric tolerance
Ability to process necessary information from machine controls and edit programs accordingly
