Accounting Manager

Responsibilities
Responsible for the direction, management, accuracy and completeness of all fixed assets and lease administration activities on the general ledger
Develop strong internal controls and integration of a wide range of complex financial service functions and activities for fixed assets and lease administration
Supervise a staff of two and act as a liaison between the Accounting and Treasury departments
Acts as a liaison between the Accounting, Capital and Budget, Facilities Management, Sponsored Programs and Academic departments
Work with the head of facilities and other project managers to ensure projects are placed in service upon completion of a project
Maintain and update procedures for fixed asset accounting and ensure they are accounted for according to the fixed asset policy with regards to asset class, useful life, depreciation method and capitalization thresholds
Manage the annual review of fixed asset to determine if any disposals or transfers are needed
Coordinate and review the fixed asset roll forward and provide listing of additions and disposals
Provide ad hoc reporting to various requests for listings of assets and their net book value by location, or asset type, etc
Reviews reconciliations of general ledger accounts for multiple divisions and oversee the preparation of journal entries as it relates to fixed assets and lease administration
Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all work produced by general accounting personnel in the areas of investments and debt in accordance with current General Accounting Principles (GAAP) guidelines
Respond to audit inquiries in a timely manner; as required, work with auditors to confirm bank balances as of a certain date
Provide expertise and support for testing and implementing systems and/or process changes to support increased efficiencies
Assist in developing and implementing policies, and controls
Build strong relationships and work cross-functionally with other finance functions to ensure a smooth and timely monthly close
Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
Qualification
Required
Degree in Accounting
Minimum 10 years of Accounting and Finance experience
Strong US GAAP accounting skills
Strong leadership, supervisory, decision making and technical skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Fixed Assets and Lease Administration Accounting experience is a plus
