Responsibilities
Participates in the orientation program as directed by the nursing unit/education team
Adhere to facility policies, procedures, and standards of care
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Actively engage in learning opportunities, including clinical experiences, training sessions, and seek guidance from licensed nursing staff when appropriate
Document patient care accurately and timely under the direct supervision of a preceptor
Review nurse intern documentation
Direct supervision of any and all care provided by the nurse intern outside of the scope of unlicensed personnel
Continually assess competency of the nurse intern and provide constructive feedback for improvement
Facilitate a safe learning environment that promotes open communication
Provide consistent feedback of the nurse intern to unit director/education team
Qualification
Required
RN or LPN student who has completed a minimum of one year with one semester of clinical coursework
Must verify passing grade in clinical coursework
Must have affiliated college/school complete and verify nurse intern competency checklist
