The Housing Case Manager Internship program provides students with hands-on experience in case management responsibilities, focusing on participant engagement, service coordination, and documentation to support individuals in achieving housing stability and self-sufficiency.

Responsibilities
Provide compassionate case management support for tenants living in project-based units, including de-escalating challenging situations, maintaining accurate and timely documentation, coordinating services, assisting participants in accessing housing and health resources, and supporting individualized goal planning to promote stability and well-being
Regularly engage with tenants to build trust, foster positive relationships, and support a calm, safe, and welcoming environment. Work with staff when emergencies arise, call emergency services when appropriate, and assist in managing tenant behavior by utilizing de-escalation techniques
Assist with administrative work to support tenants and property as needed
Shadow other programs within Agate that provide case management services such as Housing Support and Rapid ReHousing
Support a safe and respectful environment by positively reinforcing policies with consistency, fairness, and compassion
Attend meetings with other support services organizations or training as needed
Attend team meetings and 1:1's with supervisor
Respond to voicemails, emails, and other communication promptly
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Seeking an associate degree or bachelor's degree in human services, mental health or equivalent field
Ability to maintain healthy boundaries and engage directly with participants, including skillfully de-escalating situations and providing support to individuals in crisis or exhibiting challenging behaviors. A willingness to work with persons who struggle with mental illness or chemical dependency
Proficient with Microsoft Office products
Excellent communication skills, courteous manners and customer service experience are essential
Ability to work with diverse populations and a diverse workforce
Complete a DHS background check which may require fingerprinting
This position requires use of your own personal vehicle and will require insurance liability coverage of at least one hundred thousand dollars per person and three hundred thousand dollars per occurrence and must have a valid Driver's License and pass a driving record background check
Preferred
Lived experience of homelessness, experience working, interning, or volunteering with people experiencing homelessness
Fluency in languages used by our participants (Spanish, Amharic, Oromo, Somali, ASL)
