Responsibilities
Greet patients with a smile and a positive attitude
Check-in all patients by obtaining accurate and up-to-date demographic and insurance information at each patient visit
Work with the billing office as needed to ensure proper entry of patient insurance information
Assist with telephone coverage, as needed
Assist with insurance verification of new patients and established patients with new insurance
Collect co-payments from all patients, as required
Identify patient balance prior to the patient’s visit and collect patient balances, as required
Maintain an accurate cash box, including end-of-day balancing
Assist patient with completion of various medical documents, as needed
Assist with chart pulls for future visits and ensure all requested test results have been received as well as other medical records, as requested
Keep the waiting area clean and neat at all times, straightening chairs, keeping magazines neat and current, etc
Keep front desk check-in/check-out desk clean and neat at all times
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2 years medical office experience, preferably in a surgical practice
Basic knowledge of insurance plans, including Medicare & Medicaid
Proficiency in computer software use, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Preferred
Customer service experience in a healthcare environment preferred
