Quality Assurance Supervisor - 1st Shift

They are seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor to plan and direct activities related to developing and maintaining quality standards for production processes and materials, while supervising the Quality Techs to ensure adherence to protocols and standards.

Responsibilities
Reviews quality records for completion, accuracy, and adherence to internal specifications
Works with team on proactively improving the Quality and food Safety program and Pilot plant production facility to meet the Company’s, customers’, and the local State and city Health Department requirements. Be the liaison between the local Health inspectors and the plant management
Develops, implements, and maintains standards and methods for routine quality and sanitation inspections and verification
Assists the team in developing and maintaining procedures and work instructions
Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, or quality deviations related to texture, flavor, foreign material, or shelf-life stability
Collaborate with R&D, Operations, and Sanitation teams to ensure successful new product launches and process validations
Assist in the preparation and execution of regulatory, customer, and third-party audits (SQF, FDA, etc.)
Creates and manages training materials associated with the Food Safety & Quality program for Quality and Sanitation Techs and trains new hires
Maintains and accounts for product and raw material Holds and disposals, including but not limited to conducting mock recall traceability exercises at a minimum of once every quarter
Assist in troubleshooting, overseeing root cause investigations, and collaborating on corrective and preventive actions for non-conformance issues
Lead and Oversees plant GMP & pest control program and actively works with pest control provider on corrective actions and investigations
Lead and oversee the plant Sanitation program by working with internal and external parties; regularly review performance results with trend analysis, root cause, corrective action as required, chemical validation, and hygienic verification
Coordinate samples for testing as needed
Any other special projects per QA Department needs
Lead, manage, and supervise employees, delegate training for all processes within the production area setting
Provide mentorship and training to functional team members
Accountable for developing talent through on-going performance feedback and career management coaching
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or Microbiology preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
Thorough knowledge of GMP, FDA/USDA, Food Safety, SOP's, and SQF
Knowledge of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and AOAC standards desirable
Minimum 2 years of QA/Food Safety experience in a food manufacturing environment; experience with plant-based or protein alternatives is a plus
Solid understanding of food safety programs including HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and allergen control
Experience with audit preparation, regulatory compliance, and customer standards
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced production environment with varying temperature zones
Leadership skills focused on results, employee engagement, decision-making, and teamwork
Strong mathematical skills
Strong PC skills, including MS Office programs; PowerPoint Presentation, Smartsheet and Tracegains
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and organizational skills
Ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulations
Capable of writing detailed reports, general day-to-day oversight, and related correspondence
Effectively presenting information to groups and responding to questions from peers, supervisors, and managers is essential
Ability to multi-task and set priorities within Quality Assurance
Preferred
Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, not a requirement
