Responsibilities
Designs according to previously developed concepts, layouts, assemblies and detail drawings, schematics, and bills of materials used in producing custom machinery
Thorough knowledge of design practices and tolerances
Design cam, servo, and air operated stations, and to make changes to existing designs
Ensure the design is functional, robust, and cost effective
Innovate and use good judgment to incorporate BBS Automation standards and regulatory requirements
Research and specify appropriate materials and purchased components
Create detail drawings, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, organize release packages, and update drawings
Audits own engineering work for accuracy and completeness
Prepare timing diagrams
Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to design issues
Work under the confines of the project schedule and budget
Problem-solve detail issues and update all appropriate documentation
Has basic knowledge of machine qualification methods; knowledge of SPC or quality practices a plus
Provides necessary information to the Technical writer
Communicate ideas and comprehend information both verbally and in written form
Assimilate well within a team and exhibit objectivity and openness to others views
Follow all policy and procedures to maintain ISO13485 certification requirements
Prioritizes, plans, and organizes work and workspace
Provide necessary documentation and support for machinery Operating Manuals
Make recommendations for quality and cost improvements
Keeps abreast of current product developments
Travel or extend work day if required
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
B.S. degrees in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering Technology, or, with lesser education, possess and demonstrates a high level of Mechanical device understanding
Solid technical capabilities
Fluent in the use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
Good computer skills with proficiency in all Microsoft Office Software
Comprehension of office copiers, printers / plotters, etc
Knowledge in inspection and measuring tools such as scales, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, dB meters, etc
Preferred
Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD
Knowledge of SPC or quality practices
