Senior Controls Engineer -Robotics (Locomotion control)

TTE Staffing is partnering with a pioneering AI and robotics company developing advanced humanoid robots. As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will take technical ownership of locomotion control systems, developing algorithms for walking, balancing, and manipulation while collaborating with various teams to integrate control strategies.

Responsibilities

Develop sophisticated locomotion control algorithms—classic or RL‑based—for tasks such as walking, balancing, manipulation, squatting, stair climbing, and fall recovery
Model and simulate complex robot dynamics, accounting for kinematics, actuator limits, and environmental interaction
Conduct testing and validation in both simulation and real‑world scenarios
Collaborate across software, hardware, and perception teams to integrate control strategies into full humanoid systems

Required

Master's or PhD in Robotics, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field
5+ years designing and implementing control systems for biped robots, with a focus on locomotion
Strong expertise in MPC, optimal control, and advanced feedback control methods
Deep experience with reinforcement learning applied to robotics
Strong understanding of humanoid robot dynamics, balance control, and whole‑body control
Experience with real‑time control, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, and deployment on physical robots
Proficiency in Python and C++ and familiarity with simulation tools like Mujoco, Isaac Sim, etc
Knowledge of actuator systems, sensor fusion (IMUs, encoders, F/T sensors), and advanced RL concepts

Preferred

Advanced understanding of actuator dynamics and modeling
Experience with SEA, harmonic drives, direct‑drive motors, and custom actuator architectures
Background in system integration, gait optimization, robustness testing, and energy‑efficient locomotion
Experience developing SIL/HIL environments and automated test frameworks
Ability to tune and validate controllers on full‑scale humanoid robots
