Responsibilities
Compile recent research on radii of maximum wind in tropical cyclones, especially in relation to environmental parameters and climate change
Compile research on pre-modern hurricanes from before 1851 and develop a database
Perform analysis and testing of ELEMENTS, proprietary catastrophe platform
Validation of Impact Forecasting's tropical cyclone event set for Americas
Validation of new parametrization of hurricane wind field models
Programming parameterization of hurricane size into Impact Forecasting hazard generation workflow (testing and validation)
Qualification
Required
Background in atmospheric sciences, meteorology, climatology or oceanography
Experience with Python or similar programming tools
User-level knowledge of MS Office
Desire to work on a team with the capability for independent work
Driven by results and accomplishing tasks
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills
