Lead Software Engineer - Test & Verification

The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Engineer - Test & Verification to join the USAF E-7A Mission Systems Software Integration & Test team located in Tukwila, Washington. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization by developing next generation Open Mission Software for various airborne surveillance and command and control programs.

Responsibilities

As the Technical Lead Engineer (TLE), oversees the design, development, and completion of test and verification of software products to ensure quality, reliability, and functionality
Partners with stakeholders and advise on the review and identification of software requirements, test objectives, test strategies, and testability
Reviews the design of test plans, cases, and scenarios to meet software requirements and specifications
Oversees executing test cases and scenarios to verify functionality, performance, and safety of software systems, identifying and reporting defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities found during testing processes
Consults on test results and feedback on software design and functionality to resolve defects, issues, and potential vulnerabilities
Oversees creating, documenting, and maintaining test plans, procedures, cases, artifacts, metrics, and data in accordance with data privacy and security protocols and standards
Leads the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and frameworks to improve efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes
Oversees software project management functions across test and verification activities involving multifunctional teams
Leads the set up and configuration of test environments, including hardware, software, and network configurations to replicate production environments

Required

Ability to obtain Special Program Access
5 years of experience in scripting languages and testing automation
6 years of experience in real-time embedded operating systems, Linux
9+ years of experience in developing and executing Integrated Test Procedures (ITPs) for mission software, focusing on sensor and track management
9+ years of experience in software testing, integration, and verification, specifically for mission or embedded systems
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship
Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start)

Preferred

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
Ability to establish test requirements from supporting documentation, test plans, internal and external customers
Knowledge of domestic and international regulations (e.g. FAA, DOD, and NASA regulations) on the certification of test articles/vehicles to assure compliance of design
Knowledge of verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements
Ability to assess and document test or analysis data to show compliance
Knowledge of appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification (e.g., Part 25, MILSPEC)
Knowledge of specification format requirements, guidelines, and change control processes
Understanding of relationship between specifications/standards and aircraft/product certification systems
Knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and systems
The ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables
Knowledge of how to derive and allocate requirements (e.g., system, sub-system, software) and show traceability throughout the product lifecycle
Ability to design and develop automation of software tests, execute automated tests, track results, manage test data, and utilize results to improve software quality
Knowledge of implementation of software test frameworks, tools and simulations
Knowledge of internal and external software test frameworks, architectures, best practices and application in industry
Knowledge of software practices (e.g., configuration control, change management, problem reporting, software design, peer review, testing, and T&E specific practices), programming languages, operating systems and computing technology applicable to laboratory and flight test systems, including real-time, non-real-time, network-centric, monitoring and control applications
Knowledge of test program design (e.g., design of experiments, test plan development, validation)
