Cyber Security Analyst 1
San Jacinto River Authority is a public entity focused on developing, conserving, and protecting the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. The Cyber Security Analyst 1 role is responsible for implementing and managing data protection standards, identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities, and ensuring organizational security compliance.

Responsibilities
Documents processes and procedures related to security tools. Produces well-written, clear, and actionable intelligence reports at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels
Proactively monitors servers, networks, and other systems for irregularities, analyzes intrusion attempts, activity logs and system alerts for trends, problems, and potential security breaches. Conducts vulnerability scans on organization systems, then documents findings and recommends risk mitigation strategies to the Information Security Officer
Responds to end user questions/concerns as they relate to security and addresses tickets and related issues in a timely manner
Consults with Desktop Support and Application Teams on security configurations and concerns. Works with business units to help develop data classification guidelines and standards. Works with IT disciplines to research and design best fit infrastructure, network, database, and security architectures
Develops systems and processes for security best practices through the organization. Researches, identifies, recommends, and implements necessary security tools to maintain alignment with industry standards
Creates, delivers and maintains customer security awareness training (phishing simulations and actual training)
Aligns organizational security standards to National Institute of Science and Technology Cyber Security Framework (NIST CSF) as directed by Texas Department of Information Resources (TX DIR)
Develops processes to control access to data and prevent data loss. Defines technical requirements for data protection tools and capabilities
Identifies and tracks threat actors and disseminates indicators of compromise to the Information Security Officer and the Network Operations Team. Works with Network Operations Team to identify potential threats by analyzing security incidents and events
Drives root cause analysis, debugging, support and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions
This position is classified as secondary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as required in (1) preparation for an emergency event and/or (2) during recovery from an emergency event as directed by their direct supervisor, Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager
Qualification
Required
At least 2 years' experience in Information Technology and Services familiar with cyber security frameworks and standards such as NIST is required
Texas Driver's License with Insurable driving record Required
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
CompTIA Security+ is preferred
