Software Engineering Staff - Level 4
Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement a modern software framework for the F-35 Ground Systems Mission Planning Environment project. The successful candidate will lead a team in the design and development of a new contract aimed at modernizing the Mission Planning product and tools, ensuring effective communication and continuity throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Guide a team of Software Engineers in the design and development of a new contract aimed at modernizing the Mission Planning product and tools
Lead the Mission Planning Environment team through the full development lifecycle, ensuring continuity and effective communication of software strategy, design, and implementation
Actively contribute to the development of new concepts and possess full knowledge of industry and company practices, demonstrating expertise in the field and related disciplines
Develop innovative solutions to a range of complex problems that are consistent with organizational objectives, and work without direction to guide major projects to completion
Function in a leadership role, guiding teams and projects to achieve organizational goals
Ensure that work is aligned with organizational objectives and engage with senior personnel on significant matters
Enforce strong software architectural principles, including modularity, flexibility, and extensibility, and develop next-generation software
Participate in end-to-end integration activities, analyze user requirements, and implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards
Oversee software development teams, recommend new technologies and processes, and ensure quality control of all developed and modified software
Qualification
Required
Extensive practical experience in software development
Strong knowledge of software design principles and architecture styles
Strong coding and technical skills
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
Ability to guide a team of Software Engineers in the design and development of software
Experience in leading the software development of a microservices container orchestrated (Kubernetes) architecture in a DevOps environment
Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex problems
Experience in end-to-end integration activities
Ability to analyze user requirements and implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards
Commitment to delivering high-quality solutions and driving technical excellence
Preferred
Desktop application development experience
Technical leadership and expertise with proven project management record
Programming languages C#, C++, or Java
Experience with hardware interface
Full stack web development experience
Experience with agile methodology
