Credit Officer

Responsibilities

Analyze complex credit applications, including financial statements, cash flow projections, and collateral evaluations for large or high-risk borrowers
Identify potential risks and evaluate the borrower's business plan, management capacity, and industry trends to make sound lending decisions
Recommend appropriate loan structures and terms
Prepare clear and substantive loan presentations for loan committees and the Board of Directors
Assist lenders in evaluating credit proposals and proper structure
Monitor the credit quality of the loan portfolio, identify emerging trends, and work with lenders to manage problematic loans
Maintain a list of ongoing loan exceptions
Review of commercial appraisals
Prepare real estate evaluations
Maintain list of loans to be funded
Interpret and enforce the bank's lending policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with all state and federal banking regulations
Provide training, guidance, and direction to junior credit analysts and loan officers, acting as a resource for complex credit issues
Admin of LaserPro software, including weekly updating of interest rates
Prepare reports
Keep records of commercial loan committee

Required

Expert knowledge of financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment methodologies
Proficiency in financial analysis software, spreadsheets, and bank core operating systems
Deep understanding of commercial, real estate, and other lending product types
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly
Strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiation abilities
Excellent organizational and project management skills
High degree of integrity and attention to detail
Team participant in company functions and community support
Work cooperatively with and maintain effective communication and working relationship with customers, co-workers, and supervisor
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
7+ years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, or risk management within the banking or financial services industry
