Business Development Manager - Functional Beverages
Rahr Corporation is looking for a Business Development Manager to join their Bevie Partners Team. This role involves leading the commercialization of the company’s functional beverage ingredient business in North America, developing relationships with partners and customers, and driving business results to support sales growth and profitability.

Responsibilities
Execute end-to-end deal pursuit: prospecting, qualification, technical evaluation, trials, contractual negotiation, and onboarding, coordinating with internal teams as needed
Identify, negotiate, close, execute, and manage relationships with prospective partners and customers
Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities, utilizing existing product portfolio and bespoke product formulation to meet customer needs
Manage all North American Functional ingredient sales activities including responding to customer inquiries, presenting packaging value offering, following up on sales leads, responding to website inquires, and reporting activity on new and existing business
Write and implement sales plans that are tailored to specific client needs and present customer business reviews and presentations on an ongoing basis
Apply value-based pricing and margin discipline in all deals, ensuring alignment with company guidelines
Establish and manage customer forecasts, service/supply agreements, and inventory programs
Create sales, budget, revenue, and expense reporting with realistic forecasts, ensuring distribution to senior leadership on a regular cadence
Develop and own sales budget in target business segments
Build and maintain appropriate sales activity, opportunities, customer records, and tasks in the company’s CRM
Manage and grow strategic accounts through direct engagement, proactively engaging with customers through site visits, trade shows, and building multi-level relationships
Maintain and expand customer relationships, ensuring customer loyalty by identifying customer needs and translating them to a project or product
Engage and support customers and internal stakeholders related to new product queries and business activities pre-and-post sale
Identify new business opportunities within target categories, and actively create plans to execute
Coordinate technical support to customers and internal teams relating to packaging, products, and services
Partner with operations and product development teams to effectively on-board new customers and business
Collaborate with internal stakeholders on the development of sales financial objectives for annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrections or adjustments as needed
Support the development of targeted marketing content relating to functional ingredients and events
Provide customer feedback to inform product development and innovation roadmaps
Act as the Managing Director’s delegate in the market, working in close partnership to advance long-term growth and sustainable strategies
Drive a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and excellence in the functional ingredients development
Develop knowledge, skills, and abilities by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, participating in professional organizations, and attending industry trade shows
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the company and operational needs, demonstrating flexibility, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach to addressing business challenges and opportunities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Business, Food Science, or a related field required
6+ years' of progressive experience in successful business development and/or sales initiatives, with at least 4 years in the commercial beverage industry
Technical experience in food science or flavor development is beneficial
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
CRM and ERP technology experience, preferably with Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics is beneficial
Valid driver's license and passport are required
Approximately 50% domestic travel within North America, with some international travel
Demonstrated track record of delivering business results and building and developing strong relationships
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and written to both internal and external customers, leading and navigating challenging conversations as needed
Highly motivated, self-directed, results-oriented, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense, and resourcefulness
Superior relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively and partner with others to build trust through proven track record and accountability
Understands goals, key drivers, and needs of customers and internal stakeholders
