Responsibilities
Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for database development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders
Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers
Assist with the design of redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets
Support regular DR testing, restores, and environment cloning in alignment with security and compliance cadences
Work with application development staff to develop and enforce database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures
Partner closely with application teams supporting PLM (Enovia/Dassault), MES, and Kronos
Conduct research and make recommendations on database products, services, protocols, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts
Balance modernization and security best practices with operational stability and risk management
Respond to and resolve database performance issues
Perform ongoing performance tuning, index optimization, and script validation especially in PLM environments
Ensure the stability and reliability of data access and data quality across the organization via ongoing database support, maintenance and processes
Coordinate maintenance across multiple systems with differing maintenance windows and timelines
Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems
Support PLM migration efforts through end of 2027 in partnership with Dassault
Identify inefficiencies in current databases and leverage solutions
Identify opportunities to automate manual DBA processes using Python
Qualification
Required
Expertise in enterprise Oracle database architecture and operations in large on-prem environments
Security clearance requirements: US Citizen or US Permanent Resident/GC holder
Technical Oracle Database (enterprise scale, multi-terabyte environments 4–5TB+)
Oracle Data Guard for replication and disaster recovery
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM – current release) for monitoring and alerting
Bare-metal Oracle database appliances (non-cloud, non-rack based)
High Availability (HA) in a two-node configuration with failover support
Current supported Oracle versions in production environments
Strong scripting and automation skills with Python
7–10+ years of enterprise Oracle database experience
7-10+ years of hands-on database tuning and troubleshooting experience
7-10+ years of working technical experience with developing, installing, configuring and supporting multi-terabyte database environments
Strong Linux (Red Hat) experience required
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices
Working technical knowledge of current database software, protocols, and standards
Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements
Use Oracle Enterprise Manager for proactive monitoring and alerting
Evaluate and select database components, including hardware, relational database management systems, ETL software, metadata management tools, and database design solutions
Work with vendors and internal teams to support packaged enterprise applications
Standardize and support end-user practices and tools for data extraction, queries, and data manipulation in accordance with business processes
Preferred
Automation and monitoring enhancements preferred
Experience with engineered/bare-metal Oracle systems preferred
Knowledge of Various Infrastructure Frameworks including ITIL
