Assistant Director of Facilities
Castilleja School is a dynamic educational community for students in grades 6–12 that emphasizes the power of women learning and leading. The Assistant Director of Facilities supports the Director in ensuring the effective operation of the school's physical campus, overseeing maintenance, transportation, and event support while fostering collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities
Support the Director of Facilities and Campus Operations in overseeing and coordinating campus maintenance needs, including preventive maintenance, repairs, and vendor management
Assist with logistics for large campus events, ensuring appropriate setup, breakdown, and coordination of facility resources
Manage transportation operations, including vehicle scheduling for student home-to-school transportation, athletics, and field trips. Responsible for driver oversight, compliance, and safety. Assist with offsite parking and neighborhood parking management
Supervise the groundskeeping team to maintain safe, attractive, and functional outdoor spaces
Serve as one of the school’s Certified Pool Operators, ensuring pool operations meet all health and safety regulations
Support fire/life-safety compliance through oversight of alarms, fire sprinklers, extinguishers, inspections, drills, and coordination with local fire officials
Provide day-to-day leadership for facilities staff; communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and administrators; assist in emergency response planning and execution
Assist with planning and execution of facilities projects; maintain organized records of work orders, inspections, and safety checks
Manage pool and landscaping budgets: Forecasting, vendor contracts, routine maintenance, and long-term planning
Qualification
Required
5+ years of facilities, maintenance, or operations experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in a school or campus environment
Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire. Preventative maintenance best practices and safety standards
Knowledge and training in OSHA and Hazard Mat standards
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire
Experience leading teams and training teams
Experience managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
Excellent leadership, organizational skills and strong written/verbal communication skills
Valid driver's license and ability to operate school vehicles
Ability to work both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Experience working with software systems, databases, and apps such as Google, Excel, Schooldude, Brightly, etc
Familiarity with Transportation Demand Management (TDM) programs and strategies
Experience working in an educational or non-profit setting
Technical knowledge of horticulture and landscape management
Knowledge of sustainability practices in facilities and grounds management
