Senior Accountant – Bachelor's req'd

The Senior Accountant will operate under the guidance of the Director of Accounting, performing analyses and accounting work to support the financial statement close process and meeting audit requirements.

Responsibilities

Maintain and oversee the fixed asset register, ensure proper classification, valuation and documentation of assets
Maintain and manage the lease accounting process, and reconcile lease transactions, including lease liabilities, right-of-use (ROU) assets, amortization, and interest expenses
Prepare and input journal entries for approval, with emphasis on fixed assets, lease accounting, and accrued expenses
Conduct monthly account analysis for assigned income statement and balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to fixed assets, lease, and accrued expenses
Prepare supporting schedules for the program budget to actual variances used in preparing monthly
Record and reconcile all monthly capex, lease, and accrued expenses, as directed by management
Monitor, lease-related and fixed assets internal controls and implement process improvements for accuracy and efficiency
Assist in the preparation of the agency capex budget, as directed by the Director of Accounting
Support the annual audit process by timely satisfying auditors sample requests

Required

Bachelor's Degree (preferably in Accounting or Finance)
Four (4) years relevant experience (preferably with a NYS OPWDD funded agency)
Four (4) years of relevant experience with a focus on fixed assets and lease accounting
Good command of accounting pronouncements
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Good interpersonal skills exhibited by the ability to communicate with staff, management, and other departments in a professional manner
Strong attention to detail and willingness to develop and suggest optimal processes
Ability to prioritize and complete tasks on a timely basis with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
Strong work ethic and exhibiting a sense of urgency in completion of tasks, willingness to work a flexible schedule and a commitment to the mission of the agency
