Controller
NGEN Mission Critical is a global operation focused on critical power and thermal infrastructure needs. They are seeking a Controller to design and implement finance systems and processes to support the company's growth, working closely with the Head of Finance and managing a distributed accounting team.

Responsibilities
Build and document foundational accounting processes to support rapid growth and multiple entities
Own the integrity, structure, and ongoing optimization of NetSuite
Proactively identify and implement accounting and finance tools that integrate with NetSuite and improve efficiency, documentation, and scalability as the business grows
Establish proper reconciliation practices across accounts, entities, and reporting periods
Own and continuously improve a scalable monthly close process, balancing accuracy, rigor, and efficiency, with a long-term goal of a best-practice close timeline as complexity increases
Lead revenue recognition under ASC 606, including knowing when to engage external experts for complex contracts
Own cost accounting, including inventory, COGS, and landed cost for hardware and infrastructure projects
Support international accounting requirements, including multi-book accounting, consolidation, and eliminations
Partner with external firms and advisors where appropriate while bringing key capabilities in-house
Identify and implement software and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce risk
Manage and develop a distributed accounting team
Act as a trusted partner to the Head of Finance and broader leadership team, providing clear, context-aware financial insight
Qualification
Required
3+ years of experience as a Controller or in an equivalent senior accounting role (such as VP of Accounting in a smaller organization)
Deep, hands-on experience with NetSuite; this is a hard requirement
Experience in accounting environments centered on physical products, inventory, and infrastructure projects, rather than purely subscription-based or SaaS revenue models
Experience supporting accounting for high-value equipment sourced from China and sold into the U.S., including working directly with manufacturing or OEM partners
Strong command of ASC 606 revenue recognition and know how to navigate complex contract structures
Experience owning cost accounting, including inventory, COGS, and landed cost
Experience with international accounting, including multi-book environments, consolidations, and eliminations
Exposure to inter-company accounting and consolidation for wholly owned foreign subsidiaries, including China-based entities operating under WFOE structures, is a strong asset
Experience leading or managing accounting teams, including distributed or remote teams
CPA designation is a plus; equivalent experience is absolutely acceptable
