Campaign Outreach & Community Engagement Specialist
The Public Health Institute (PHI) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting health and well-being. The Campaign Outreach & Community Engagement Specialist will design and implement outreach for the Vote for Your Food campaign, expanding engagement with key allies and managing social media channels.

Responsibilities
Support the identification and engagement of priority stakeholders and constituencies, including rural and urban communities, producers, advocates, and community-based organizations
Research and map key allies, networks, and coalitions across farming, agriculture, environment, and public health sectors
Develop and maintain bios, contact lists, and communication trackers for campaign allies, endorsers, and partners
Help create and refine outreach materials (e.g., flyers, one-pagers, talking points, slide decks) tailored to different audiences
Assist with promotion and logistics for ally meetings, webinars, and campaign events
Provide consistent communication and follow-up support to campaign partners and coalition allies
Maintain the ROC website to reflect all its current activities, impacts, staffing and events
Co-design and implement social media strategy that includes the design and implementation of the Vote for Your Food campaign at the state and national levels
Support ROC’s broader strategy to expand engagement with key state and national partners beyond the Vote for Your Food campaign
Help build and maintain ROC’s network in rural and urban communities, including outreach to producers, advocates, community leaders, and institutions
Manage and update ROC’s established and Vote for Your Food social media channels (e.g. LinkedIn, Instagram, BlueSky, X/Twitter, and Facebook)
Draft and schedule posts and stories that highlight ROC’s policy work, campaigns, partners, and community stories
Use basic design tools (e.g. Canva) to create simple, on-brand social media graphics and visuals
Track basic engagement metrics and share insights to refine content and outreach strategies
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
2 years of experience in communications, community organizations, marketing, or related fields
Bachelor's degree, or substitute with four additional years of related experience
Experience working with or alongside farming, rural, agriculture, environmental, or public health stakeholders
Comfortable working with diverse communities and stakeholders across rural and urban contexts
Knowledge of food systems, sustainability, public policy, civic engagement, and/or democracy-focused work
Experience with community organizing, campaign outreach, or coalition and partner engagement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including drafting social media content
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Basic design, social media, and e-marketing experience (e.g., Canva, Constant Contact and other CRM tools, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, etc.)
Adept at using spreadsheets, online research, and other collaborative tools (e.g., Google Workspace)
Self-motivated and reliable, with the ability to work independently and as part of a small team, managing multiple projects and deadlines concurrently
Strong organizational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Preferred
Candidates based in the San Francisco Bay Area are strongly preferred
