OSP Engineer

Responsibilities

Support the planning and engineering of fiber outside plant (OSP) infrastructure
Design and review fiber routes, including aerial, underground, and conduit based networks
Develop construction ready OSP designs, including fiber counts, splicing plans, and placement methods
Support road move, utility relocation, and public works projects impacting fiber outside plant facilities
Coordinate fiber facility relocations related to road widening, municipal improvements, and utility projects
Collaborate with operations, construction, and field teams to support fiber deployment projects
Assist with network expansion, rebuilds, and capacity driven OSP upgrades
Review as built documentation and ensure accurate updates to network records
Work with vendors, contractors, and engineering partners to support OSP design and construction efforts

Required

Experience working with fiber outside plant (OSP) networks in an ISP or telecom environment
Strong understanding of fiber construction methods (aerial, underground, and conduit)
Knowledge of OSP design principles, fiber counts, and splicing practices
Ability to interpret and create fiber design drawings and documentation
Strong communication and cross functional collaboration skills
Ability to work independently in a remote or distributed environment

Preferred

Experience with GIS tools, fiber design software, or OSP documentation systems
Familiarity with permitting processes, pole attachments, right-of-way, and utility coordination
Knowledge of capacity planning and long-term fiber network growth strategies
Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, or other reporting and tracking tools
Previous experience supporting fiber construction or field operations teams
