Earthwork Superintendent

Rachel Contracting is seeking qualified applicants for the Earthwork Superintendent position. The role involves performing site grading for various construction projects, operating equipment, and managing a workforce to ensure quality workmanship and adherence to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

Performing site grading for commercial, industrial, development, wind and road construction projects which includes road improvements, drainage improvements, road maintenance, dewatering, soil correction, foundation excavation and backfill, utilities and any other necessary civil improvements required for a project
Operates equipment such as: blade, dozer, excavator, water truck, off-road trucks, and skid steer
Communicate with subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays and assure on-time delivery
Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules by way of daily communication with the Project Manager and General Superintendent
Manage a workforce size of approximately 5 to 25 workers (operators and laborers)
Assist Project Manager with expediting materials procurement, schedule and project documentation
Assure all personnel on the project site are familiar with and adhere to the project safety regulations

Required

Preferred

Previous supervisory level and civil construction experience
Ability to be a team leader under challenging conditions
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple operations
Demonstrate ability to promote a safe work environment
Dependability: showing initiative and good follow through
Ability to problem solve and adjust to changing circumstances
