Responsibilities

Perform design engineering and provide system design support by working closely with all MEP disciplines to ensure well-coordinated designs
Consulting and interfacing with clients, architects, vendors, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction
Manages CAD and other technical staff assigned for particular project or task as directed by the engineer and or senior designer
Participates in the employee review process as requested
Writes engineering proposals under the direction of an engineer or senior designer
Participates in various trade organizations and prepare presentations
Estimates construction costs and to evaluate feasibility of construction using ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude)
Assist in business development by expanding on current client relationships, cross selling Syska services and by attending industry and client events

Required

Bachelor's Degree from accredited college or university in Fire Protection, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering discipline
Minimum of 5 years field experience with previous experience in Fire Protection and Fire Alarm System design and Fire/Life Safety Consulting
Knowledge of ICC, NFPA and Local codes and standards
The ability to achieve security clearance from Federal Government (project specific)
The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively in a fast-paced, and challenging environment
Open to traveling to various project locales
Experience in using AutoCAD-MEP, and REVIT to develop designs
Possesses strong interpersonal relationship skills and strong communications skills both verbal, written and presentation

Preferred

Knowledge of NYC codes preferred
NICET certification in Fire Alarm or Fire Protection systems, preferred, or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
P.E. or Fire Protection referred
