Responsibilities
Participation in the monthly accounting close process for the Company’s domestic and international entities, with a focus on its insurance legal entities, including the processing of journal entries and account reconciliations for premiums, claims, reinsurance, and statutory accounting principles to GAAP adjustments
Participation in internal and external reporting, which includes assisting with internal management reporting and variance analysis
Building strong internal controls that better support our financial reporting process
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and/or annual financial statements
Collaborate with the legal team and assist in compliance for insurance operations
Prepare and review internal management reports, including working with key internal stakeholders on variance analysis
Assist in the coordination and communication with internal and external stakeholders on all key matters, including corresponding with auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters
Continuously identify process improvements and automation efforts
Actively identify and implement procedures to strengthen our internal controls environment
Assist in the research, reporting and documentation of all technical accounting matters
Qualification
Required
Strong background in financial audit
Experience in the insurance industry
Proven track record of applying accounting knowledge in dynamic environments
Ability to think critically in complex situations
Ability to maintain a strong internal controls environment
Proactive, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
Demonstrated focus on process improvement
Willingness to identify inefficiencies and implement solutions
Hands-on approach and comfort in digging into details
Ability to navigate technical accounting challenges
Ability to communicate clearly
Ability to work collaboratively
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting
Demonstrated knowledge in insurance accounting principles
Strong execution of competing priorities and ad hoc projects
