Retail Interpreter

Cherokee Nation Businesses is seeking a Retail Interpreter to provide superior customer service to all museum guests. The role involves maintaining the cleanliness of the building, serving as an interpretive guide, and supporting the tourism department with various tasks.

Responsibilities

Presents demonstrations, speak to the public, and conduct tours. Public speaking skills are necessary
Supports the tourism department as needed: sales, scheduling, reporting, follow up phone calls, filing
Opens and closes the museum
Keeps the museum staffed at all times during opening hours
Maintains and balances cash drawer daily and makes deposits
Manages multiple projects without having direct supervisory responsibilities
Work requires moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25lbs and standing and/or walking for more than 4 hours a day
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

CIG certificationCherokee history knowledgeCustomer service experiencePublic speakingEffective communicationSelf-motivatedOrganizational skills

Required

Associate's degree and one (1) year of previous cash handling and/or customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge and interest in Cherokee history and culture
Ability to be self-motivated, well organized, and willing to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instruction and have effective communication skills
Ability to effectively organize and creatively present materials to visitors
Must become CIG certified; training will be provided
Must have taken or enroll in the Cherokee Nation History course
