Responsibilities
Assist in Cardiac Surgery: Serve as first assist in the OR for cardiac surgical procedures
Perform Procedures: Conduct vascular tissue retrieval, endoscopic vein harvesting, and chest tube insertions
Inpatient Management: Perform daily rounds, monitor postoperative patients, and manage pre- and post-op care
Coordination of Care: Collaborate with attending surgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Clinical Duties: Diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and manage wound care including suture removal
Documentation: Maintain thorough and timely documentation in the patient’s medical record
Qualification
Required
Current NCCPA certification
Active New Jersey Physician Assistant license
Controlled Substance Registration required
Minimum of 2–3 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience, including demonstrated proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) and first assist responsibilities
Strong clinical judgment, surgical precision, and excellent communication and coordination abilities
