Responsibilities

Be responsible for daily feeding of all cattle in the research feedlot and research pastures with emphasis on proper and timely delivery of feed
Drive feed truck and operate skid steer loaders and payloader and conduct routine maintenance on the equipment
Train new feed truck drivers, perform daily checks of feed, water, and fencing and assist with construction and maintenance of facilities
Meet with supervisors to plan activities on research trials and milling feeds
Assist graduate students with data collection
Work varied tasks and job focuses based on time of year
Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualification

Animal Science degreeAgricultural experienceBeef Quality Assurance certificationInstitutional Animal Care certificationTraining new driversRoutine equipment maintenanceData collection assistance

Required

Associate's degree in animal science or related field plus two years of experience working in agriculture or related industry required; or
High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of experience working in agriculture or related industry
Additional completed relevant education or experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis
Valid driver's license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements
Ability to obtain Beef Quality Assurance certification and UNL's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee certification within 6 months of hire

Additional relevant education is preferred but not required
