Responsibilities

Assists in the development of the Company’s annual budget, including the administrative costs, and product line membership, revenue and healthcare cost projections
Lead the development of the Company’s non-compensation budget, including expenses submitted by cost center directors and accounting prepaid and fixed asset costs
Partner with the Financial Analysis team by having a deep understanding of changes in membership, revenue, and healthcare costs, participating in forecasting and modeling to support the annual and mid-year budget
Assists in the development of any budget and price proposal related to any new business the Company is exploring and/or any Request for Proposal that the Company is responding to
Prepares ongoing budget-to-actual analyses and projections, reviewing results to identify trends and provide insights that inform future budget planning
Works directly with line of business Executive Directors and operating department Directors in the development and analysis of budgets, projections, price proposals and pro-forma financial statements
Helps maintain budget software platform including data integrations and dimensions. Develop templates, forms and tools for the development of all products required for effective budgeting, reporting and analysis
Assists in the preparation of longer-term financial projections including projections of product line and Companywide profitability, projections of capital needs, projections of cash resources, and projections of Capital and Surplus reserves
Supports project management teams and department leaders by preparing monthly budget-to-actual reports for approved company projects, calculating total labor costs from hours worked, salaries, and benefits by cost center, and delivering actionable financial summaries for leadership review
Plays a key role in the procurement process by reviewing incoming contracts to assess cost breakdowns, confirm budget alignment, and ensure accurate expense coding
Supports accounting by guiding cost center owners on accurate expense coding, including developing customized allocation templates by line of business to ensure timely and precise expense submissions
Analyze, monitor, and review monthly financials at general ledger account level (by cost center & line of business) for accuracy and completeness. Includes investigation of unusual variances and/or monthly fluxes and suggesting or preparing re-class entries as necessary
Prepares GAAP-compliant budget figures from cash basis cost center submissions, incorporating pre-paids, depreciation schedules, deferred rent, and other adjustments
Supports FTE and compensation budget analysis and serves as backup to the Senior Budget Manager on the Position Control Committee and the position management function in the HRIS system
Acts as backup to Accounting and accountant responsibilities during periods of high turnover, including month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and audit support

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Five years of progressive experience in budgeting and accounting
Strong knowledge of accounting and finance
Demonstrates support for the company's mission, vision and values
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High speed and accuracy in mathematical calculations
Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with multiple levels of staff, facilitate discussions, meetings and presentations
Excellent organizational, project and time management skills
Highly proficient in the use of PC's including MS-Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Access and Windows) and accounting/budget systems

Preferred

CPA or CMA preferred but not required
