Controller
Harmer is an Industrial Services/Construction company seeking an Assistant Controller for their Corporate offices. The role involves overseeing audits, cash management, financial reporting, and managing a team, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations and accurate financial management.

Responsibilities
Oversee all external audits, reviews, and compliance filings, including but not limited to financial, tax, customer, and other outside parties
Oversee cash management activities, including daily cash activity, 13-week cash flow forecasting, and cash budgeting. Incorporate projected billings, collections, retainage, and job-related cash requirements. Identify potential risks or constraints
Oversee preparation and distribution of monthly forecast-to-actual and financial reporting
Execute month-end and year-end close processes accurately and on schedule, prioritizing tasks, identifying risks, and proactively addressing issues that could impact financial reporting
Manage general ledger activities across multiple entities, applying sound judgment to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently in accordance with GAAP
Oversee accuracy and compliance of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Critically review unusual or non-routine items and resolve
Maintain intercompany schedules, reconciliations, and transfers among multiple subsidiaries, analyzing variances and ensuring eliminations are properly reflected in consolidated results
Manage, reconcile, and analyze complex balance sheet accounting including: over/under billings, accrued expenses, job cost accruals, and prepaid expense. Evaluate trends and present data-driven recommendations to improve forecasting accuracy
Participate in acquisition integration, including purchase accounting, etc
Collaborate with third-party tax preparers to ensure timely filings and payments for federal and state income taxes and sales/use taxes; prepare tax estimates for forecasting and budgeting purposes, assessing impacts on cash flow and financial planning
Manage team of 3-5 – mentoring and developing short and long-term goals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably within the energy or construction space
Supervisory experience required
Proven expertise in ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics or comparable platforms a plus) and Microsoft products (Excel and Word)
Exceptional leadership, communication, and team development skills
Must have experience working with a company $250 Million - $500 Million as a Controller to be considered or Assistant Controller of a $1 Billion in revenues corporation
Preferred
Certified Public Accountant designation preferred
Hands-on experience with ERP implementation or optimization is highly desirable
