EPIDEMIOLOGIST - FETAL INFANT MORTALITY REVIEW / PUBLIC HEALTH
St. Charles County Government is seeking an Epidemiologist focused on fetal and infant mortality. The role involves analyzing medical records and investigation data to identify systemic issues and improve community resources and service delivery, while conducting detailed case reviews and developing strategies to enhance maternal and infant health outcomes.
Responsibilities
Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to fetal and infant deaths
Identify patterns, trends, and risk factors to inform public health strategies
Review medical records, death certificates, and investigation reports to determine contributing factors
Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews to assess causes and recommend prevention strategies
Evaluate the effectiveness of current maternal and child health programs
Develop and recommend improvements to enhance service delivery and community resources
Work closely with healthcare providers, public health officials, and community partners to coordinate response efforts
Facilitate communication and data sharing to improve outcomes and reduce disparities
Prepare reports summarizing findings and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders
Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and public health regulations
Ensure alignment with state and federal FIMR guidelines
Develop and deliver presentation, reports, and educational materials
Provide guidance and education to healthcare providers and the community on risk factors and prevention methods
Prepares and analyzes county disease data on a monthly and/or quarterly basis - Prepares reports that include summary charts and graphs - Assists in data quality assurance
Shares on-call responsibilities to assure Department 24-hour/day, 7 days per week coverage for response to emergencies and communicable disease and participates in emergency response exercises and drills
Develops presentations and trainings for regional health care professionals on emergency preparedness, communicable diseases, epidemiology, chronic diseases, community assessments and/or surveillance - Actively accepts invitations to speak at meetings, conferences, and health fairs
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Nursing, Health Care Administration or other related biological or biostatistics science
Valid driver's license
Minimum two (2) years professional experience in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Emergency Management – including one (1) year in an administrative, supervisory, or instructional capacity
