Intern, Communications
American Public Media Group is seeking a motivated intern to support their communication efforts. In this role, you’ll assist with media research and pitching, help launch corporate storytelling blogs, and support internal communications to align team members with organizational goals.
Media and Entertainment
Responsibilities
Media relations Campaign research and PR planning
Research and media list building for pitches
Maintenance and improvement of media monitoring, alerts and reporting outputs
Internal Communications Drafting, editing and sending company emails, meeting invitations, and blog post updates for staff
Update internal company intranet site
Assisting with planning and execution for virtual and or hybrid all-company meetings
Corporate communications Creating content calendars for social and corporate blog
Managing asset creation for social and owned channels
Drafting and reviewing corporate communication
Qualification
Required
Enrolled undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduates (within the past 18 months)
Must be able to work 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 5:00pm) for the duration of this internship
Must be able work in the office (St. Paul, MN) at least 2 days per week
Currently pursuing or have earned a degree in Communications, Strategic Communications / Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Media Studies or a related field
Excellent written communication skills
Enthusiastic interest in public media and radio, podcasts, and/or communications/public relations
Strong digital/computer skills (typing/word processing, email, internet research, etc.)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred
Strong experience with Outlook and Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously while under deadline
