Chief Executive Officer
Accelerating Circularity is an action-oriented nonprofit focused on textile-to-textile recycling at a commercial scale. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will lead the organization, shaping and executing its strategic vision while fostering partnerships and ensuring operational excellence across multiple geographies.
Responsibilities
Provide inspiring leadership to advance Accelerating Circularity’s mission and vision, guiding the organization through its next phase of growth and impact
Partner closely with the Board of Directors on strategic priorities, key decisions, and strengthening the organization’s positioning and visibility globally
Build, lead, and support a high-performing remote team, fostering strong collaboration, connection, and professional development across geographies
Shape and lead the organization’s strategic planning, translating vision into clear priorities, actionable plans, and measurable outcomes
Oversee day-to-day operations and financial stewardship, including management of an annual budget of approximately $1.2M
Act as Accelerating Circularity’s primary ambassador and spokesperson, representing the organization with members, funders, media, policymakers, and the broader industry
Cultivate and strengthen strategic relationships with brands, recyclers, policymakers, and other partners to advance Accelerating Circularity’s mission and influence
Lead fundraising efforts and support the development of diverse and sustainable revenue streams to ensure long-term financial health
Guide marketing and communications activities to effectively share Accelerating Circularity’s work, impact, and thought leadership
Support effective governance by planning and leading Board and committee meetings in collaboration with the Board Chair
Ensure strong organizational foundations by maintaining appropriate employment, administrative, and operational policies and practices
Review and approve contracts and partnerships that support the organization’s goals and growth
Identify and assess opportunities to collaborate with other multi-stakeholder initiatives and NGOs across the textile, apparel, and circularity ecosystem
Take on additional responsibilities as needed in partnership with the Board of Directors, reflecting the evolving nature of a growing organization
Qualification
Required
A leadership style grounded in transparency, integrity, and trust
10 or more years of senior management experience, including at least 4 years in the nonprofit sector would be an asset. Senior for-profit leadership experience is a plus
Demonstrated experience working effectively with a Board of Directors in a collaborative governance environment
Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to clearly articulate a compelling vision for the organization's future
An ability to communicate the organization's mission and impact clearly and persuasively to a wide range of stakeholders
Deep knowledge of the textile and apparel industry is valued, with a global perspective
Significant experience in circularity, including a strong understanding of key drivers, enablers, and barriers
Proven ability to inspire, lead, and support a highly skilled, globally distributed team. Experience working with remote teams is a strong advantage
Fundraising experience, with a track record of developing new revenue streams and strengthening financial sustainability
Strong organizational and operational skills, including planning, delegation, and program development
Solid financial acumen, including budget oversight, analysis, and decision making
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort with public speaking
A strong work ethic, curiosity, and energy, paired with the ability to navigate complexity and lead through change
